Good news keeps getting better!
Gabi C. took second place at the Girls Play Chess Tournament recently. Congratulations Gabi! In just two short years with a lot of practice and tournament play, Gabi has become one of the top rated players in the state.

Seth T. of the MJCC Chess Club took 5th place in the Oregon State Championship for Rated Players in Seaside, April 25 and 26, 2010. Gabi C. and Everett C. also represented the club in the competition and won awards for effort and sportsmanship.
Gabi, Seth and Everett played in the Team Chess (Bughouse) competition on Friday afternoon. Everett and Seth were a team and this year they won their section.

On March 12, 2010, the MJCC Chess Team came in 3rd in the Oregon State Cup Chess Tournament at the Convention Center!
And the next day, at the Oregon State Individual Chess Championships, our players had a chance to show their stuff!

5th grader, Gabi C., PJA 3rd grader Zevi A. and 3rd grader Everett C. came in 4th in the state. About 80 teams and 500 kids participated.

Our chess team recently took first place in the region, scoring 17.0/20. They brought home a beautiful trophy!
