Development Director for Portland Jewish Academy and Mittleman Jewish Community Center
JOB TITLE: Development Director
DEPARTMENT: Administrative
REPORTS TO: Director, Mittleman Jewish Community Center
FLSA STATUS: Full time; Exempt
SUPERVISES: Department employees
COMPENSATION: To be negotiated, depending on experience

POSITION:
Responsible for building, sustaining and monitoring a comprehensive, effective development program, with annual goals, budget, strategies and timelines. Directs involvement in fundraising activities of the executive director and key staff, board of directors, and volunteers.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING/SKILLS HIGHLY DESIRED:
1. Independent, self-motivated, highly-organized, results and detail oriented, and flexible.
2. Undergraduate degree in an appropriately related field.
3. Minimum 5 years successful and progressively responsible experience in planned giving, major gifts, annual campaigns and related fundraising planning and implementation.
4. Demonstrated experience with fundraising/database software, donor research and identification, cultivation and solicitation.
5. Exercises sound judgment with excellent analytical, managerial and problem solving skills.
6. Exceptional customer service skills to cultivate strong relationships with donors, board members, staff and volunteers.
7. Sophisticated interpersonal, verbal, written and listening skills.
8. Creative and resourceful approach to all tasks and responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TASKS:
1. Successfully plan, direct and implement a campus-wide program to support completion of the current capital and ongoing operations campaigns for the MJCC.
2. Coordinate individual, foundation and corporate donor research and identification.
3. Cultivate, directly solicit and assist others in seeking annual, planned, and capital gifts.
4. Direct all fundraising events, activities, direct mail campaigns and sponsorship solicitations.
5. Work with marketing/communications staff to develop effective solicitation materials.
6. Cooperate in creating a positive, integrated approach to activities among fundraising, marketing/communications, and membership staff, consultants and volunteers.
7. Advise the Director on setting of annual goals, budgets, development and staffing plans.
8. Interact with local community and leaders to facilitate good prospect leads.
9. Provide timely written and verbal communication regarding all supervisory responsibilities.
10. Assist with other assignments as requested by the Director.

TEACHER'S AIDE
Schedule: Full-Time, Regular
Wage: Competitive Pay/Benefits

Summary:  Provide general assistance to teachers in an established private K-8 school.  Supervise and manage groups of children both in and out of the classroom; assist in the instruction of basic subjects; assist in the daily operation of the classroom.  Prepare materials as assigned.  Great work environment!

Qualifications:
1.   Previous responsible experience working with youth, preferably in an educational setting.
2.   Hebrew language skills preferred.
